Cy Klein
Asst. Coach: 16 BLACK
Cy has been coaching volleyball for five years and is with ITVC’s 16’s team as an assistant coach for the second consecutive season. Cy’s additional coaching experience includes head coaching the NW Juniors 16 National team and recently volunteering with the Juanita High School varsity team during the 2011 season. He was named the NW Juniors “Assistant Coach of the Year” in 2009. Cy is both IMPACT and CAP I certified by USA Volleyball.
Cy is very well liked by his athletes and peers as he often creates a very fun and challenging environment in the gym. Cy is great at encouraging athletes to learn and develop technical and mental skills in a very positive learning environment. In clearly keeping expectations defined, Cy works to achieve buy-in from his athletes by making practice as game-like as possible (practice at game speed), training every player in every skill set, maintaining focus on execution over effort (quality reps over an extended period of time to lead to success), and having fun!
Cy is from the great state of Idaho, where he attended and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!). He is an avid volleyball player, competing in many indoor and outdoor events throughout the year. During his time at the U of I he competed with the men’s club team as a middle blocker and outside hitter. Cy currently is a Program Manager for Astronics AES, an aerospace company located in Redmond, WA.
