Kyle Roberts

Asst. Coach: 18 BLACK

Kyle joins ITVC for the 2012 season as an assistant coach with the 18 Black team.  His most recent coaching experience includes co-Head Coach for the Cascade VBC 15’s team in 2011 and the assistant varsity coach for the West Seattle HS team, of which won the Metro League’s Sound Division championship to repeat their 2010 title.  He has also worked with West Seattle’s JV teams in 2010 and 2011.  Kyle has also spent time the past couple of years coaching juniors outdoors on both grass and in the sand.

As an athlete, Kyle was the starting setter for Southern Regional HS (New Jersey), earning both team and group tournament MVP honors in 2000.  He still plays a lot of competitive volleyball both indoors and outdoors with a Jet City co-ed indoor team, in the Mercer Island LID outdoor 4’s league, and at the big Seaside beach event every year.

Kyle’s coaching philosophy entails the following: “Always better the ball on all our touches. Every player on the court should be accountable for every play because there is always a way to help communicate what needs to be done.  Play our own team’s strategy instead of focusing on the opposing team too much. Our team as a whole should always be learning to be a better student and leader of the game.  Always play at your highest competitive level while also respecting the integrity and sportsmanship of the game. Finally, and most importantly, have fun!”

Kyle is a graduate of the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA.  He has two degrees from Wentworth, first earning an Associate Degree in Architectural Design and Engineering (2002), followed by a B.S. in Construction Management (2005).  He has attended various coaching clinics, and is IMPACT, CPR, and First Aid certified.

ITVC is excited to have Kyle on board this season!
