Margo Gockel
Head Coach: 13 BLACK
Coach Margo is in her first year with ITVC and will be leading our 13 Black team for the 2012 season. She is a native of the Bellevue area having attended and played volleyball at Sammamish HS before competing for Bellevue Community College for two seasons. Margo was then able to fulfill a volleyball dream with an opportunity to compete for Seattle University for one season. While at Seattle U she earned a degree in European History.
Margo brings with her 10 years of volleyball coaching experience, during which she twice guided a team to an all-city CYO championships. Her coaching philosophy is simple but very impactful in that “hard work brings success” and “volleyball is a thinking girls game”! She is USAV IMPACT and CAP I certified, and has completed a Gold Medal Squared clinic. Margo says she absolutely loves it when an athlete’s face lights up because something clicked for her in her mind and on the volleyball court.
Margo has been married for 31 years to her husband, Paul. They have three grown children, including Jessica Gockel, one of Margo’s assistant coaches this season with the 13 Black team. She is a retiree of Bank of America, indicating that there were just too many robberies.
