FAQ
When is club volleyball season?
Club season starts with tryouts in November and the season finishes up either at the end of May or the first week of July depending on if a team is competing at Junior Olympics or another end of the year tournament
How many times a week do you practice and where?
Teams generally practice twice a week but may practice three times a week occasionally if the coach chooses and gym space allows us to. Our club conditioning program is optional but encouraged for 13’s -18’s and is a one hour session for 13’s and 14’s and an hour and a half session for 15’s – 18’s once a week on Mondays in addition to practices. Our practice sites are on Mercer Island and in South Bellevue. Please visit our Locations page for specific practice sites.
Where and how often are tournaments?
Teams will have an average of two tournaments a month and “local” tournaments will all be within an hour of the Seattle area. Teams will have between two and five travel/multi day tournaments throughout the season. Schedules for each team will be distributed at tryouts and posted on the website as soon as they are available.
What does it cost to play for ITVC?
We are currently still finalizing our budget for the 2010 season but will have our fees nailed down shortly and they will be available before and at tryouts. Each player will have their club dues which cover their USA Volleyball membership, tournament entry fees, gym rental fees, coaching, uniforms, and team equipment. There will also be travel fees that will cover transportation and hotel costs for travel tournaments. Our optional conditioning program will cost $340 for the 13’s and 14’s and $420 for the 15’s – 18’s.
What makes ITVC different than other clubs?
Our goal is to be highly competitive and to have teams who are passionate about playing volleyball and players who are fully committed to their teams and the goals of their teams. We will not have coaches on staff who demean or belittle players as a means of motivation. While coaches will demand a high level of work ethic and commitment, they will always relate to players in a positive and constructive way that empowers the athletes in our program. Players perform their best when they are confident and have the courage to take risks and leave it all out on the court. We will work hard to help every player at ITVC to be a confident and skilled athlete. We are also happy to work with multi-sport athletes and understand that they may miss an occasional practice session due to a game for their school sport. We think that playing other sports and cross-training is good for athletes and can increase overall athleticism. Some volleyball clubs do not permit multi-sport athletes to participate.
